Fitzhugh Road Safety Study
Project Overview
Hays County is advancing plans to improve Fitzhugh Road between RM 12 and the Hays County line to enhance safety, improve mobility, and accommodate the region’s growing population.
Funded through the Hays County Transportation department, these near-term improvements were informed by a safety study completed in spring 2024 and public input gathered at an October 2024 public meeting.
The County is also evaluating potential improvements at high-crash locations highlighted in the safety study. These areas include the Barton Creek crossing, the intersection of Fitzhugh Road at RM 12, and Fitzhugh Road at Trautwein Road. Conceptual designs for these areas will be shared at the upcoming Open House, where community members can provide initial feedback.

The project team is working closely with community members, property owners, Travis County, and the Texas Department of Transportation to develop safety improvements. To view the safety study findings and materials presented at both public meetings, see below.
